Oculus GO Game
This was my first game project – the Oculus GO had just arrived, and I wanted to create something hand-painted and unique. The story was about a lost dog trying to find his way home, and (because the GO only had rotational head tracking) the player would be situated in one place to solve puzzles from scene to scene, eventually making their way back home.
One of the unexpected challenges in creating this was getting the correct perspective for each object. I needed to paint each image in 2D, with the correct viewpoint and perspective for its position, to give the illusion of 3D. This also meant that objects couldn’t be moved at all, without completely redoing them. This was a major issue, but I stuck with it for the style, which 3D objects just couldn’t replicate.
Sadly, many of the files for this project were lost when I forgot to push them to Git and recycled the older laptop it was being built on. Lesson learned!
